Centred around the historic town of Tavira, the East Algarve offers a more authentic and relaxed side of Portugal, where outstanding golf is combined with charming towns, beautiful beaches, exceptional gastronomy and a pace of life that invites you to slow down and enjoy every moment.

Tavira & east algarve - courses
Tavira and the East Algarve offer one of the most varied and rewarding collections of golf courses in southern Portugal.
Within a relatively compact area, golfers can enjoy everything from relaxed and welcoming resort courses to demanding championship layouts. Benamor provides a friendly and highly playable introduction to the region, while Castro Marim and Quinta do Vale offer beautiful inland settings close to the Spanish border. Further west, Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima deliver two distinctly different experiences, with one shaped by its coastal surroundings and the other presenting a more traditional championship challenge.
At the premium end of the spectrum, Monte Rei stands among Portugal’s most highly regarded golf experiences, combining exceptional course design, immaculate presentation and first-class service.
The location also makes it easy to cross the border into Spain, where Isla Canela Old Course and Isla Canela Links are both within approximately 30 minutes’ drive. This adds even more variety and makes Tavira an excellent base for a golf holiday combining the best of the East Algarve and neighbouring Andalucía.
With such a broad selection of courses close at hand, every itinerary can be tailored to suit the group—whether the priority is championship golf, relaxed holiday rounds, scenic layouts or a carefully balanced mix of them all.

Set within the breathtaking Ria Formosa Natural Park, Quinta da Ria is one of the Algarve's most scenic golf courses. Spectacular views across the Atlantic Ocean, Cacela Velha and the surrounding lagoons accompany every round, while thoughtfully placed bunkers and water hazards reward strategy as much as shot-making. A course that perfectly blends memorable golf with one of Portugal's most beautiful natural landscapes.

My home course. Nestled between the Serra do Caldeirão hills and the Atlantic coastline, Benamor Golf is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and enjoyable layout. Designed by the legendary Sir Henry Cotton, the course features gently undulating fairways, well-protected greens and beautiful views towards the sea. Playable for golfers of all abilities while still rewarding accuracy and smart course management, Benamor remains one of the Eastern Algarve's most popular golfing venues.

Designed by the legendary Seve Ballesteros, Quinta do Vale is a true strategic test where intelligent course management is rewarded. Set in the rolling countryside overlooking the Guadiana River on the Spanish border, it offers an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities and a fitting tribute to one of the game's greatest players.

Originally designed to host championship competitions, Quinta de Cima is one of the Algarve's finest inland layouts. Wide fairways, mature olive and carob trees, natural streams and carefully positioned bunkers reward thoughtful course management and precise ball striking. Less resort-like than many Algarve courses, Quinta de Cima offers an authentic golfing experience that appeals to accomplished golfers without sacrificing playability.
